What we do:

Gateway Financial Advisors, Inc. wants to help you design a "Simple Life Plan"
The financial decisions you make, can impact every aspect of your life, mental, physical, and emotional (Video).

These decisions can result in stress and worry or bring you confidence and comfort.
It has been said "some people spend more time planning for an Anniversary or buying a HD TV or selecting a mobile phone / tablet and subscribing service for their mobile devices than planning their financial future."

Retirement is certainly one goal, but having the economic means to live a "simple life" (Video) is just as important.

We want to help you achieve that goal, a plan that allows you to enjoy life and live a "simple life" now and in retirement (Video).

Our "Simple Life Plan" is more than a traditional financial plan.  It incorporates your lifestyle, values, financial interest and helps you design a plan to "take the complexity out of life".

Helping you leave a legacy by design not by default.

Our team of advisors is experienced to help you define your financial goals, provide solutions to help meet those goals and are committed to helping you design a plan to achieve financial independence.

Through our unique "team" approach we surround you with a team of professionals, who help you create personal strategies to minimize taxes (Video) and achieve your financial goals.

We believe in risk management not just return management

It is our core belief that portfolios should be managed with the intent of helping to lessen overall risk.
We focus on using strategies that allow for both wealth preservation, as well as wealth accumulation.

Our Philosophy:
The client's interest always comes first.

Our Goal:
To help our clients create a "Simple Life Plan" allowing them to plan and control their financial future.
Help you take the "complexity " out of Life: Live, Linger, Leave (LLL) simple, What is your Legacy?

Services - Protect Your Income (PYI), minimize Cover Your Asset (CYA)
We serve individuals and businesses in all areas of financial management, including:
Retirement planning (Video) – Income Distribution Specialist
Making the most of your employer-sponsored retirement plans (401(k), 403(b), 457) and IRAs.
Determining how much you need to retire comfortably.
Managing assets before and during retirement.

While accumulating your nest egg towards retirement, you are facing many challenges, including the primary risks of market volatility and inflation. Stepping into that next big life stage of retirement, you will likely be facing additional risks and challenges, such as longevity, rising healthcare costs, and the ability to leave a legacy behind.

When transitioning from the asset accumulation stage to the asset distribution stage, it is important to be mindful of how these various risks could jeopardize your desired retirement lifestyle.

We take the following steps to develop your retirement plan, whether you are already in retirement or transitioning into retirement:
• We first understand your vision of your desired lifestyle during retirement, from which we arrive at an approximate spending target.
• We take into consideration other moving elements such as potential healthcare costs, life expectancy, and taxation.
• We then take an inventory of your available resources and where they are invested and run a projection. We use a simple approach to meet your vision of your desired lifestyle (Goal-Period-Risk Based (GPRB) planning management investment approach).
• We will then make a recommendation based on your preferences to adjust components of the plan such as retirement age, spending, asset allocation, etc.
• Iterations will be run until the most desirable outcome and high probability of success is reached.
• We will execute the plan by separating your retirement assets into separate buckets of “Income now”, “Provisional Income”, and “Income Last”. An investment strategy for each bucket is designed based on timeframe and distribution requirements. This will allow a portion of your assets to continue to grow to help cover inflation, health care, and longevity risks.
• Review at least annually, or when major life events occur, and adjust accordingly.

Tax management (Video) – Wealth Management
A simple financial plan must be tax efficient to generate greater income now, provisional income, and regular income last.

Estate planning (Video) - Protect Your Asset (PYA), minimize Cover Your Asset (CYA)
Reviewing your wills and trusts. Helping preserve your estate for your intended heirs.
Helping with beneficiary designations.
Helping to reduce your exposure to estate taxes and probate costs.
As we are not legal professionals, we will coordinate with your tax and legal advisors.

Conventional Estate Planning focuses on death planning. It is tax-driven, and often times results in complex documents that are confusing and hard to understand. It starts with “What” and “How” but not the “Why” of Estate Planning.
Does this sound familiar to you?
• Do I need Estate planning?
• What exactly is estate planning?
• Those estate planning documents are so complicated and hard to understand!
• What exactly does a family trust do for me?
• The changing estate and income tax laws are so confusing that I don’t know how I should plan my estate around them.
• I have my family living trust done and put away and I’ve never looked at it again.
Estate Planning should be about your legacy. It is about people you love, causes you care about, and when you would like to see the impact -- not just after your death. It should start with “Why”; your life experience, your values, and your desired outcome.
Estate Planning with us addresses the above issues and more, and never starts with a taxation discussion.
1 The discussion begins with your values, what you believe in, what you care about, and how you would like to leave your legacy, described in your own words.
2 We examine your various assets and how they are held.
3 Something as simple as a title change can affect the outcome of how your asset flows when a life event occurs.
4 We project your net worth at the end of your plan and estimate the impact you may have according to your wishes.
5 We run illustrations in multiple iterations until we arrive at your optimum impact
6 Certain estate planning tools may be used based on the strategy, such as Revocable Living Trust, Irrevocable Trust, Life Insurance, and Irrevocable Life Insurance Trusts, etc.
7 Review when needed or at least every three years
Estate Planning documents and strategies should be reviewed whenever there is a change in your circumstances or your family. It needs constant review and update.

• Risk management and Insurance
Reviewing existing insurance policies.
Recommending policy changes when appropriate.
Finding the best policy for your situation.

While you navigate the volatile markets to achieve your financial goals, you also want to make sure that no matter what twists and turns life sends your way - losing a job, becoming sick or disabled, living too long, or dying too soon - you'll have a financial safety net in place to protect you and your family. Insurance is a way to address that risk.
There are lots of factors to consider when determining how much and what kind of life insurance to buy, and the purchasing process can be quite complicated. So when you’re ready to consider, it’s always a smart idea to seek assistance from a qualified insurance advisor who will take the time to carefully assess your needs, and provide you with options from which to choose.
We will work with you to:
• Perform an insurance needs assessment
• How much do you need? If you die prematurely, what financial burdens will be threatening your loved ones? Loss of income, mortgage liability, college education, final expenses and taxes are all possible threats. What if you become disabled and need nursing care? We help you calculate your insurance needs by assessing your existing coverage, if any, and available resources, to arrive at a net insurance need.
• Suggest suitable insurance strategies using various life, disability, or long-term care products (Video)
• Once we determine your needs, we look at various insurance tools to maximize the protection you will receive. We work with your current and projected cash flow to come to an optimal strategy. Sometimes combinations of insurance products are proposed. We educate you about the differences between insurance product types, and communicate clearly to you why and how the insurance strategy is to be used. We are here to find the best available solution for you.
• Determine the most suitable insurance carrier for you.
• We don’t work for a specific insurance company. Each insurance company has its strengths and differences regarding age, coverage, and health standards requirements. We apply for the insurance carrier that best suits your unique needs.
• Review annually together with your overall financial plan
Insurance is an integral part of your overall financial plan. Sometimes your circumstances change and may require a change in your insurance strategy. We review your insurance strategy regularly with you to ensure it is still sound.

• Education funding
Recommending investment and accumulation strategies to help you pay for your children's education.

• Investment Planning And Management (Video) – Goal, Period, and Risk Budget Based (GPRB) Investment Approach.
